Hiroshi's mother Ayame is a special cow to our herd, we received her from our friends at Pono farms, in Bend Oregon. Pono had a great appreciation for wagyu and fine dining, they had a restaurant in portland back in 2015 that was one of our favorites and an excellent butcher shop in central Oregon. So when their farm went up for sale we knew we wanted to buy some of their cattle, however they for some reason did not believe in registering their cows in the American Wagyu Associations database, they assured us that Ayame was full blood wagyu, and according to the genetic tests performed by AWA, we believe she is full blood, meaning that Asa would also be full blood. However since Ayame was not technically registered as one of our breeding cows when Hiroshi was born, Hiroshi shows as 50% wagyu, which we would obviously debate. Hiroshi even though we believe is 100% full blood, he is being sold for a lower rate than we would typically charge for a papered full blood animal. Would be a great animal to add to a Angus, Holstein or other herd for strong overall health, Could also be a great animal for backyard beef, if you have room for one cow to raise and eat.
